LAWN A were unable to upset third-placed Pinehurst B in Division One of the Swindon & District Netball League.

A close match saw both teams wrestle for on-court dominance but late errors led to Pinehurst edging to a 34-27 victory, with goal defence Ehlana Drury taking Lawn’s player-of-the-match award.

In Division Two, Lawn B got the better of Raychem C, eking out a 10-goal lead by half-time as they went on to record a 55-41 triumph, with Kat Dawson named player of the match.

Meanwhile, Lawn C were beaten 49-34 by Fairford A.

Royal Wootton Bassett A kept the pressure on Division Three leaders Raychem D with victory over Nationwide C.

Bassett pushed into a six-goal lead by the end of the first period and continued to grow their advantage, leading by 13 at half-time and 18 with a quarter to go.

Goal attack Stacey Watson was named player of the match for Bassett as they ran out 53-29 winners while Nationwide’s centre and goal defence Louise Giles took her team’s award.

In Division Four, Royal Wootton Bassett B were unable to strike a blow to Raychem E’s title hopes.

After a close encounter, Raychem won the game in the final quarter, securing a 47-38 triumph, with Mollie Smith named player of the match for Bassett.

Elsewhere, Lawn D recorded their second victory on the spin by beating Delta Reds C 50-34.

Inspired by the shooting of goal attack Holly Atkins, who was named player of the match, Lawn took the lead after a slow start and then went on to pile the pressure on Delta, before carving out a comfortable winning margin.

Abbey Meads C cruised to a 44-21 victory over Ferndale in Division Five, with centre Abigail Cook named player of the match.

Elsewhere, Lawn E suffered defeat at the hands of Fairford C.

After a scrappy first quarter, during which both teams were plagued by errors, Fairford took a prominent lead and pressed the issue home from there.

Despite making positional changes, Lawn, whose goal attack/goal shooter Brooke Drayton was named player of the match, were unable to stem the tide as they were beaten 50-23.

Table-toppers Royal Wootton Bassett C overcame Melksham 37-27, with Claire Arthur taking the player-of-the-match award.

LAWN’S Regional League Two side were unable to put the brakes on league leaders Whitchurch as they were beaten 46-38 at home last weekend, centre Sara Kersham named the hosts’ player of the match.

Elsewhere, the club’s over 35s continued to dominate their division with a 35-14 win over Abbey Meads on March 2, which extended their unbeaten campaign to date.

In the junior divisions, Lawn U14s beat Pinehurst 26-11, Lawn U12s beat Fairford 19-6 but Lawn U11s B lost 9-6 to Raychem C.

Royal Wootton Bassett U12s beat Moredon 15-11, with Malaeh Hunt named player of the match.
