Mannion stars as Swindon beat Marlow
TOM Mannion stormed over for four tries as Swindon maintained their position as the South West 1 East pacesetters with a 40-31 win away at Marlow.
The number eight made sure his side were always in control in Buckinghamshire, as they scored at a steady pace to secure their position at the top of the table with three games gone.
Fly-half Adam Westall was impressed with what Mannion and his fellow forwards were able to produce and insisted their work held the key to the Greenbridge Road side’s most recent success.
“To be unbeaten in our three games so far, including two wins away from home, is something we have to be pleased with and we would have snapped your hand off for that start,” he said.
“Tom had a storming game all in all and was very impressive, and our pack was very dominant and a lot of it came from that in what was a very strong performance.
“Tom has scored seven in three matches so far this season which is really impressive, and he was part of the county team which won at Twickenham in the past and we are very lucky to have him at Swindon.”
Despite their stunning start to the campaign, Westall will do his best to make sure his players keep their feet firmly on the ground.
“We have enough experience not to get too carried away, and we have to be at our best to keep it going,” he said.
“I’ll be the first to tell the boys we are only as good as our last loss, although we haven’t lost this season, and there are so many things for us to improve on to make sure we keep getting better.”
