MARTIN Peaple hopes that Swindon College Old Boys’ first victory last week can provide some momentum for his side’s meeting with fellow strugglers Wallingford tomorrow.

The Pipers Way first XV are already relegated and contemplating what next season has in store for them, however any wins at this stage serve to create a more positive feeling about their current campaign.

Old Boys’ win last week at home to High Wycombe was their first in 19 attempts but with their hosts tomorrow also struggling for wins it perhaps presents an opportunity for Peaple’s side to collect their second victory.

Peaple told the Advertiser he believed a positive result was not out of the question: “It’s possible and it depends who we’ve got available again from what we had last week. I think we’ll have to see who comes through training. We were lucky to have a few players last week who can’t play regularly,” he said.

“We can win, absolutely, they are only two above us and High Wycombe are fifth so we’re capable of doing that.

“The belief has been there all season and it’s whether we can it to gel in the right place at the right time.

“The sun’s out and there’s that extra bounce in training, hopefully we can convert that from the training pitch on to the match pitch at the weekend.”
