SWINDON will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat in the Wiltshire derby against Devizes as they play their penultimate game of the season in the South West One East division.

Perennial high-flyers Swindon were downed last week 42-19 by their central Wiltshire rivals and will be looking for an immediate response against Grove at Greenbridge Road.

It’s been a year of transition for Sean Lynn’s team, they would usually expect to be in contention for the league’s top spots at this stage but fourth place is the best they can hope for this time around.

Victory tomorrow would certainly make that final position more likely as Grove are the team currently sat directly above Swindon in the table. A win of any sort would make Swindon favourites for fourth place as Grove’s fixture this weekend is their final act in this season’s drama.

Swindon have one more game, Saturday week against Witney, a game that should both sides win tomorrow will be a straight play-off for the afore mentioned fourth spot in the table.

Once that is done Swindon can reflect on what has been an inconsistent season, interrupted by the winter weather – which the Greenbridge Road side have self-admittedly been affected by.

That said one only has to look at the England rugby side to see that transition is not a quick process and heading up a chasing pack behind three sides with a broad daylight points lead is nothing to be ashamed of.
