SWINDON head coach Sean Lynn has been impressed with what he’s seen so far as he prepares the club for the new season.

The Welshman is heading into his second campaign at Greenbridge Road, having replaced Neil Loader last summer, and led the club to a decent finish in South West 1 East last season.

Lynn had no doubts about coming back for a second year and, having overseen a handful of pre-season sessions so far, believes everything is in place for a successful year.

“It’s all been good and pre-season has been going well for us, it’s nice to get back into it,” he said.

“We’ve got a few back from injuries and they’ve been going well, which is nice to see, and we’ve been into a few sevens events too which has been good to play a little. We’ve done alright so far too which is nice.

“This is a club where I want to be, it’s a family club with great people and a great atmosphere and everything’s going in the right direction and looking to the future.

“It’s a good place to be involved with and there’s no reason why we can’t be successful this season.”

Lynn utilised a number of Hartpury College players in his Swindon team last season, with the coach pleased a number are interested in returning for the new term, although he has been disappointed to see prop Gary Williamson return to Wootton Bassett.

“The Hartpury boys all want to play here again next year which is really nice and shows just how good a job the club is doing,” Lynn said.

“That’s a credit to the club and how well they’ve been treated really.

“We could be looking at a few local players too which would be nice if they do come along, we’ll have to wait and see about that.

“Gary will be a sad loss because he’s a good player and we wish him all the best now he’s moved.”

Swindon host their annual sevens tournament at Greenbridge Road this Saturday, with the event kicking off at 10.30am.
