SWINDON under 15s held on for a 24-19 victory over their Avondale counterparts.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock in the opening 20 minutes with both teams defending well.

It looked as if it was going to be 0-0 at half time until a period of sustained pressure allowed Swindon’s number eight Tomas Ferriera to cross the line.

The hosts’ forwards were again rucking and recycling the ball well and started to dominate.

This quickly brought about another try when Rory Horsington bundled over from close in.

Avonvale fought back and a rare break into Swindon territory actually brought about the hosts third try.

Josh Foulds popped up with the ball deep inside in his own half and ran 50 metres.

Held up short, Swindon’s numbers at the breakdown forced a penalty and Tom Jenkins burst over from three metres. The conversion from Keldan Steyn gave Swindon a 17-0 half-time lead.

Ferriera grabbed his second score after the interval.

The hosts then made a number of changes that disrupted their pattern of play and which slightly aided Avonvale’s fight back.

A great effort from Avonvale and a lack of discipline in giving away un-necessary penalties in the last ten minutes led to three late tries from Avonvale.

Kane Jones won the man-of-the-match award.
