SEAN Millwaters was left frustrated on Saturday after watching his Supermarine side get narrowly beaten 29-24 by Corsham.

Despite the defeat Supermarine have lifted themselves off the bottom of the Southern Counties South table by picking up two bonus points.

A sloppy start for the hosts sealed their fate as Supermarine were unable to recover from giving away three early tries.

Two scores from Chris Dawes added to a try from Dai Wilson and a late five-pointer from Killian Spain, but it was not enough for Supermarine to recover the early deficit.

“I think we were frustrated after the game, we should have won but we gave them a 19 point start in the first half,” said head coach Millwaters.

“We absolutely dominated them at the end of the game and if the game had gone on for another 10 minutes we would have won.

“We know that at this level you can’t give a side that kind of start.

“We are off the mark and we are off the bottom of the league which is a good thing.

“We have got a run of some very hard games coming but then that is followed by a run of games against the teams around us.

“It will be interesting to see how we do but the boys played very well from the 30 minute mark on Saturday.”

It was a scrappy affair at Marine Park Arms with seven yellow-cards and one red, for two yellow cards, being handed out by the referee.

Supermarine gave themselves an uphill challenge from the off conceding three early tries but Dawe was able to go under the posts before the half was over to go into the break 19-5 down.

Tight-head prop Wilson then went over, for only his second try for the club after the break, which was converted by Luke Donaldson to bring them to within just one score.

Corsham then scored either side of Dawes second try of the match, before fly-half Spain went over from a quick-tap penalty to bring the score to 29-24 but, with Supermarine in the ascendance, time ran out.
