SWINDON RFC U15s ran in five tries to secure a 27-12 victory over Trowbridge on a chilly and misty Sunday morning at Greenbridge Road.

Trowbridge chose to kick-off which Swindon gained possession of the ball and they swiftly moved into the opposition’s half, where most of the action remained for a large proportion of the first-half.

However it was not until the 15th minute that Swindon broke through the well aligned Trowbridge defence. Max Uden put in an excellent tackle in midfield, the ball broke free and Tomas Ferriera was on hand to pick up the loose ball, before running through the gap and going over for the first score of the day.

The second try followed shortly after. A period of sustained Swindon pressure resulted in the award of a penalty. Ethan Tull reacted the quickest to take it. Tull jinked inside and offloaded to Fraser Cowell who was on a perfect line to split the Trowbridge defence and go over close to the posts.

That score meant Swindon went in 10-0 up at half time.

Swindon also scored first in the second half.

A tackle from Cowell led to some great work at the breakdown from Jed Hawes, which brought another Swindon penalty as Trowbridge held on to the ball.

Ferriera took it quickly and Trowbridge hadn't retreated 10 metres. Rory Horsington took hold of the next penalty and smashed his way through to go over for the third try.

Trowbridge hit back with their first score but were pegged back immediately after. Swindon re-instating their advantage with a fantastic break from Kane Jones.

Ferriera scored Swindon's fifth try after a little bit of kick-chase.

Trowbridge scored a second try in the final minutes, resulting in a final score of 27-12 to the hosts.

Max Uden was given the man of the match award.

Swindon U15's (current school year 10) have a great and successful friendly team but are also looking to recruit new players to the squad.

Training takes place at Swindon RFC's Greenbridge Road ground every Wednesday evening between 6.30pm and 8pm. Everybody will be made very welcomed.
