SWINDON head into this weekend’s game on a high after inflicting a first defeat on Towcestrians last Saturday.

After a good start to the season Swindon lost two games on the bounce and were determined not to extend that run to three games when they took on Witney.

The Swindon team dug deep and pulled back a 27 point deficit to defeat the Oxfordshire side before claiming a narrow two-point win away to Towcestrians.

Cameron Brown, who is recovering from a quad strain he picked up in the match against Witney, missed last weekend’s tie but is hoping to be back in contention this weekend when they face local rivals Trowbridge at Greenbridge Road.

“It was quite good for the team to go in to last weekend’s game as underdogs for a change,” said Brown.

“We went there with nothing to lose and I think we inflicted their first defeat of the season which was a great result.

“I think we are heading into the game this weekend quite confident on the back of that win.

“Trowbridge had a really good end to their season, going to Twickenham (in the National Intermediate Cup Final), and they are a strong side. We know a few of their players and we are all excited to play in this one.

“They have had a mixed start to the season but we a fully expecting to come away with five points from the game.”

Meanwhile Supermarine face another difficult weekend when they play unbeaten Walcot.

Supermarine have had a tough start to life back in the Southern Counties South division and go into the match on the back of a 90-3 defeat to Swanage.
