IT TOOK a 79th-minute try for a depleted Royal Wootton Bassett side to see off a stubborn Marlow on Saturday.
In a tight affair, Bassett were able to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games with a 13-10 victory.
The Ballard’s Ash side were left scrambling for numbers after scrum half Deri Thomas pulled up injured during the warm-up.
With Bassett short on numbers two colts, Jake O’Neil and Dan Graham, were called up and did not disappoint.
It was Kyle Lovell’s try with barely a minute left that snatched the win and put Bassett third in the league table.
“We won ugly, is the only way to describe it,” said Low.
“We’re talking about a result where we are not happy that we came out with a win.
“We had a number of players out and we gave two colts debuts.
“I think we were a little bit chaotic with the amount of changes and we just struggled to get any penetration.
“When we talk about character, they really showed it was still there.
“There was a huge effort by the pack, who were dominant all game.
“When you are going well, the sign of a good side is one that keeps on pushing and I think we just took our foot off the gas a little bit.
“Jake O’Neil came off the bench and first touch of the ball it was a turnover and he slotted right in.
“Dan Graham was unbelievable in the second row and made a try-saving tackle.”
