ROYAL Wootton Bassett head coach Alan Low is not letting his side get carried away with their run of seven games unbeaten.

The run has seen the Ballard’s Ash side rise to third place in Southern Counties North, just a point behind second placed Aylesbury.

Bassett travel to Milton Keynes tomorrow and will hope to end the game in better circumstances than the last time the two sides played, when the game was called off after an hour with the opposition’s Jake Ronaldson suffering a broken leg.

Despite the possibility of going second, Low has said that he is not looking at the table.

“We set our targets at the start of the year and we talked about growing our foundation so that when we are ready to push for promotion we can go up and stay up,” said the Ballard’s Ash boss.

“We don’t want to yo-yo, like you see a lot of clubs do when they go up with a strong first team and potentially the strength in depth isn’t there.

“The club is growing and we are in a really good place at the moment.

“We’ll just take each game as it comes and if that means we are somewhere near the top two at the end of the season that’s fine and if we are in the top four then we have reached out targets.”

Despite the early stoppage Bassett’s 85-3 victory still stood but Low is expecting a different contest away from home.

Gary Champion, Sam Robinson, Tim Gallimore and Phil Bardwell all return to bring competition for places ahead of the trip.

“The week before last against Marlow, the performance wasn’t great and we know we need to up our game a bit, certainly in the backs,” Low added.

“We’ve got to step things up massively and become more of an attacking threat.

“We’ve been quite potent up front in the forwards and have been dominating sides to give the guys plenty of ball to work with.

“We know we need to capitalise on that and make the most of our opportunities.

“I think they are going to be a different entity at home to the team that travels away.’’ Elsewhere, Swindon travel to Wintey, who inflicted a first defeat of the season on South West One East leaders Chippenham last weekend.

Winless Supermarine face a Herculean task in Southern Counties North, with leaders Swanage & Wareham the visitors.

Swindon College Old Boys face Hungerford for the second time in a week, this time travelling to the Berkshire side after last week’s thumping cup win.
