SWINDON head coach Sean Lynn said that he was delighted to hear that his side got a big success despite struggling at scrum-time.

The Greenbridge Road side went into their 57-14 victory at South West One East basement boys Bletchley on the back of a narrow success over Windsor.

And given that Swindon were forced to make changes to their pack early on due to an injury to tighthead Josh James, Lynn, who was not at the game, said he was pleased with the reports he received.

“I was told that we did struggle at scrum-time,” Lynn said. “But the lineout functioned well and we managed to score some tries out wide, which was something we have been looking to do.

“So to struggle in the scrum and score 57 points is pleasing.”

Meanwhile, Swindon College Old Boys bounced back from their defeat to Berks/Berks and Oxon Premier Division leaders Reading Abbey with a 45-7 win at Slough.

Mark Lea’s side took an early 12-0 lead, with Liam Spillane going over twice.

Charlie Grabe burst over for try number three for the visitors before adding his second conversion of the match, and then he secured the try bonus point after a terrific show of pace as College went in at the interval 24-0 up.

Some good hands from Bobby Tilling, Grabe, Spillane and Jamie Park saw the visitors run in try number five, which was again converted by Grabe.

And while the SCOB penalty count crept up and Gareth Davis was sent off, the visitors held firm for a convincing success.

Supermarine’s winless campaign continued as they suffered a 68-0 defeat Dorchester in Southern Counties South.

Sean Millwaters’ side had been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks, having scored 13 points in each of their last two outings. However, ninth-placed Dorchester were in no mood to be charitable and romped to a comfortable success.
