ROYAL Wootton Bassett director of rugby Alan Low has challenged his side to finish the campaign on a high.

The Ballard’s Ash side head to Aylesbury tomorrow in Southern Counties North looking to rack up their 13th victory in a row.

That incredible run has seen Low’s side move to within six points of leaders High Wycombe with only three games remaining.

And while Low wants his players to focus on the job at hand, he is well aware of what a poor end to the campaign could mean.

“We don’t want to go into pre-season flat,” he said. “We want a sprint finish to the season, we don’t want to dawdle over the line.

“We are just taking it a game at a time, but we know what a good end to the season can mean.”

Bassett are facing a difficult run-in with the trip to Aylesbury followed by a visit from Beaconsfield before ending the season at sixth-placed Bicester on April 18.

High Wycombe, meanwhile, travel to Drifters tomorrow and entertain Thatcham then Marlow to end the term.

“To be honest the lads are working really hard when they are on the road,” Low said.

“We have spoken about making Ballard’s Ash a fortress and they are turning up and expecting a result.

“When we go on the road we are starting really fast and working really hard and that is something we have to do tomorrow.”

If Bassett are able to overhaul High Wycombe and finish second they would go into a promotion play-off with the second placed side, most likely Salisbury, from Southern Counties South for a place in South West One East.

Low added: “That is something that we are not even thinking about at the moment, we are just focusing on what is ahead of us and that is making the trip to Aylesbury.”
