SKIPPER Adam Westall says the prospect of playing South West One East champions elect Chippenham on Saturday will bring the best out of Swindon.

Sean Lynn’s side set the benchmark high last weekend with a thumping 71-12 win at home to Buckingham – their third win on the bounce.

Chippenham have lost just twice in the league this season and another win would put them on the cusp of title glory, but that has made Westall and his troops all the more hungry to pull off a shock at Allington Fields.

“Chippenham have been very strong all year. I think they have been top of the league since the first game,” said Westall.

“But I’ve said in the past that we always play better when we are the underdogs and we’ve had a good few weeks and got some good results against what have been bogey sides so we’ll go there with plenty of confidence.

Fly-half Westall will return to the squad on Saturday after missing last weekend’s thrashing of Buckingham.

“Mark Sharpe has a hip injury and there’s a few boys we will need to check on before the game but other than that I think we should be in good shape,” he said.

Elsewhere, Wootton Bassett will be looking to get back to winning ways as they look to secure a runners-up finish in Southern Counties North. Alan Low’s side host Beaconsfield, having lost to third-placed Aylesbury last time out.

Swindon College require a bonus-point win at home to Abingdon to keep their faint title hopes in Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier alive, although unbeaten leaders Reading Abbey need just a losing bonus point at home to Chesham to be crowned champions.

Supermarine will go in search of a first Southern Counties South victory in 21 attempts when they entertain Midsomer Norton.
