SUPERMARINE Ladies lifted the Intermediate Plate with a dominant display against Moseley Ladies.

The win was secured in style, with Supermarine scoring five tries to come out as 33-10 victors against a spirited Moseley side in blustery conditions at Lichfield RFC.

The final whistle was greeted with jubilant celebrations by the Supermarine Ladies players, coaches, and almost a hundred supporters who had made the six-hour round trip as captain Claire Wilson lifted the Plate.

Backs coach Gareth Hollis said that it was a day to remember for the club, and applauded the effort of the whole team.

“It was great to see the backs finishing from the dominant platform set by the forwards,” he said. “It’s a day to remember for the team, and the club.”

With the wind at their backs in the opening half, Supermarine dominated from the first whistle.

The Supermarine forwards were strong up front, and provided a perfect platform for full-back Lianne Bartleman to cross the line after just 10 minutes.

That was swiftly followed by another try from Harriet Marshall, converted by Natalie Williams.

Just before half-time there was another flurry of scores as Moseley scored two breakaway tries in succession, but just as they seemed to be in the ascendancy, Supermarine hit back almost immediately with a try from Bel Martin-Mulholland, restoring some breathing space.

The try was again converted by Williams, and Supermarine went into half-time with a nine-point lead.

Despite playing into the strong winds in the second half, Supermarine scored first through Donna Martin-Mulholland, before Bel Martin-Mulholland added her second.

Kicking into the wind, Natalie Williams converted both, adjusting her technique easily in the difficult conditions.

Supermarine played out the remainder of the second half completely in command of territory and possession, as Moseley failed to record a point in the second period.
