ROYAL Wootton Bassett will be looking to muscle up as they return to pre-season training this week.

Alan Low’s side will be boosted by the support of sponsors Extreme Nutrition, who are looking to bring in two-time Britain’s Strongest Man winner Laurence Shahlaei, for some unique training.

Having finished third in the Southern Counties North division last season, Bassett have taken a level transfer into the Southern Counties South, but Low is confident that the sturdy foundations the club have built up will hold them in good stead.

“It is nothing I am too worried about to be honest. “ Low said. “It is a slightly different challenge but I think it is potentially an area our players know a little bit better anyway.

“I think the teams in that league are probably a little bit more consistent.

“We have said to the guys that we want a really big push with the first team.”

The Ballard’s Ash side return to training tomorrow, at 7pm, and have been working hard off the pitch in the close season with a car park extension and a school coaching programme, which involved more than 300 children at the weekend.

Led by new captain David Hogg, who captained Dorset and Wilts last season, Low has warned his players that they are not in for an easy time.

“The players are really going to have to put the graft in now and lay a strong foundation for the start of the year,” added Low.

“We are going to change things up a little bit,in regards to pre-season and we’re going to work with the strongman stuff and our nutritional partners, Extreme Nutrition, are going to come in and work with everybody.

“They sponsor Britain’s Strongest Man and are looking to get us both to do some work in the summer and I think our guys will benefit hugely through that.

“I’ve got a tingle in the tummy already ahead of this week and I am looking forward to a really big year.”
