MARTIN Lane and Robert McLeod from Swindon St George’s wheelchair rugby league team have been named in the England squad for the Home Nations tournament next month.

St George chiarman Tony Ellis coaches the wheelchair side as well as one of the assistant coaches for the England side and back in March he took Lane and Mcleod as well as three other St George players into the training squad for the national side.

Kelvin Jones, Scott Jones and 15-year-old Commonweal School pupil Billie-Ellen Batten have not made the cut, but surely will have more opportunity to stake a claim in the future.

The home nations tournament, which will also feature world champions France, who beat England in the final to take the crown, kicks off at Medway Park in Gillingham, Kent on September 23 and runs until September 26.

Lane and McLeod are in action for St George in their next club matches against Medway Dragons and Leyland Warriors on August 22 at the Youth First Centre from 11am.
