ALAN Low is calling on the town of Royal Wootton Bassett to get behind his side ahead of their first home game of what could be a big season.

Having got their campaign off to a winning start with a 17-10 triumph over local rivals Marlborough on Saturday, Bassett are now looking to turn Ballards Ash into a fortress.

Low’s side welcome Walcot, who also started with a win on the opening day over North Dorset, this weekend With the beer festival also taking place on Saturday Low is hoping for a good showing to cheer on his team.

“I think it is the usual story for me, we will just concentrate on what we do,” he said.

“They (Walcot) are an unknown quantity, certainly to me; some for the other boys might have been there before.

“We’re looking forward to a bumper crowd this year.

“We’re hoping that the town can pick up and get behind the rugby club, because the general feeling is that we can have a really good year this season.

“We are really trying to get that support base behind us, plenty of noise.

“We do have a young side this year and I think the noise factor for the home team and a load of young men, it really does add another three inches in height and puffs their chest out a little bit.

“So we would love the town and the rest of the club to really get behind the team for their first home game and then we can set our stall out.”
