CRICKLADE put in a sterling second half display as they came from 17-0 down at half-time to defeat Bath Saracens 31-17 in Dorset and Wilts Two North.

Having beaten Melksham 48-17 last weekend, leaders Cricklade looked lethargic and disorganised as Bath put the hosts to the sword with three unanswered tries in the first half.

Following the break, Cricklade looked a different side and the line started to move forward and intercept attacks early, the rucking started to win turnovers and passes started to go to hand.

Cricklade’s first try came from a lineout which saw a good catch and run by Danny Harris, who in turn released Ben McManus to score. Chris Freeth added the extras.

Soon after Harris and another solid lineout combined again, but this time it was Callum Watkins who was on hand to score an unconverted try to make it 17-12.

Rob Lindsay brought the scores level when he intercepted a Saracens pass to score, while Freeth’s conversion gave the hosts the lead.

Cricklade then bagged two tries from their dominance at the scrum. First Stuart Knight was able to ghost through a weary visiting defence for the bonus point score. Freeth again adding the extras to make it 26-17.

The hosts then took a scrum against the head to allow Jack Danford to crash through and play in Greg Roscow to touch down for an unconverted try.
