SWINDON College Old Boys are not out of their depth in the Southern Counties North division, according to head coach Mark Lea.

Despite suffering two defeats in their opening two games, College have been able to pick up bonus points in both outings to keep them clear of the bottom.

College have been plagued with injuries in the forward line at the start of the season and that continues going into this weekend’s game with Bletchley.

The Buckinghamshire side carried negative points into the season from their last campaign so, despite their win over Stow-on-the-Wold and their draw against Thatcham, remain a point behind College.

Lea knows with his injury concerns, which he admitted were too many to list, that a first win will be difficult this weekend but hopes work on the team's defence will hold them in better stead.

“What is good is we are not out of our depth,” he said.

“We should target wins against both the teams we have played in the return fixtures.

“I would say our chances of winning are good however, we do have another unavailability concern.

“In my view, we need to get through this week competing and with luck, pulling off a win and then start to target teams.

“A win will settle the lads. I think once we get the first win, we will push on.

“As I said earlier this week, we will work on our defence - if we can frustrate the opposition I know we will score tries.”

Meanwhile, Royal Wootton Bassett, who have won two from two in Southern Counties South, will be looking to continue their strong start to the season when they travel to North Dorset, who sit a place below the Ballards Ash outfit.
