SWINDON maintained their 100 per cent record in South West One East with a 60-22 win over Swanage & Wareham.

The bottom side in the league did not make life easy for the table-toppers and it took until the second half before Sean Lynn’s outfit kicked into gear.

Braces from Jack Badminton and Jordan Sheppard set the hosts on the way to a convincing win and skipper Adam Westall was pleased with the response from his players.

“It just shows what we can do when we are focused,” he said. “We didn’t really get out of first gear in the first half.

“It was in stark contrast to the week before and a few stern words at half-time seemed to do the trick really.

“The problem with our team is if you are top of the league then every team are going to to come after you and you have to have that top two per cent on the money if you want to stay up there.

“After half-time, we thought about what we were doing and managed to run in 50-odd points.”

Swindon got off to a perfect start when Adam Dobie crossed the whitewash within three minutes of the kick-off.

Ben Saville added a second after 11 minutes and the hosts seemed to be running away with it but the visitors worked their way back into the game to give themselves a 17-15 lead at the break.

After a few firm words at half-time, Swindon responded well and Badminton restored their lead, before Alex Whittaker gave Swindon the bonus try.

Badminton crossed the line again to further extend the hosts lead before Sheppard got himself on the scoreboard. David Cox crossed for another five points, before Sheppard got his second of the half to wrap up the win.
