IT WAS a strange case of Jekyll and Hyde for Royal Wootton Bassett head coach Alan Low as he saw his side lose for the first time this season at North Dorset.

Bassett stormed into an early lead and scored a bonus-point try before the half-hour mark to give them 28-8 lead.

However, like a flick of the switch Bassett’s performance turned into a monster and they failed to score another point as the hosts ran out 34-28 winners.

“(I’m) a little bit disappointed to be honest,” said Low.

“Talk about a Jekyll and Hyde performance.

“Ball in hand in the first half we were absolutely superb and it was some of the best rugby I have seen us play on the front foot.

“But we didn’t front up. They got into the game and had a six-minute spell where they scored some tries and our heads dropped.

“There were six under 19s in our squad on Saturday and they were a little bit shell-shocked when North Dorset came back into it.

“It is a learning curve for a young team against quite an old experienced side.

“We have got to look at taking the positives out of Saturday and it just shows, the way we play when we have got the ball in our hand, we can tear teams to shreds.

“We have just got to show the character and come back from where we were on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Supermarine continued their impressive start to the Dorset & Wilts One North league after brushing aside Colerne 57-7 on the road.

The win sees Sean Millwaters side stay top of the league, a point above second-placed Melksham who are the only other side in the league with a 100 per cent record.
