CONNAL Knott is hoping that Swindon do not make the same mistake twice and are quick out of the blocks against Salisbury on Saturday after having last weekend off.

Sean Lynn’s men also headed into their last fixture on the back of a free Saturday and they turned in a lacklustre display at Grove as they suffered a first defeat of the season in South West One East.

The scattered fixtureless weekends means building momentum has been a problem and scrum-half Knott is keen for his team to return to their early season form.

Swindon won their opening four fixtures of the campaign to climb to the top of the table, and they still sit second despite being beaten last time out.

“It’s been a bit stop-start for us in the last month or so and it didn’t do us any good against Grove,” said Knott.

“We haven’t played consistently for the last month. It’s always difficult when you have a week off and you get a bit lazy. We made too many mistakes against Grove and that cost us.

“It’s always nice to have a bit of a break so you can rest and recover and recharge your batteries but it didn’t do us any favours last time so we have to look to do better this time.

“It’ll be good to get the boots back on and get back out there on Saturday.”

Three of Swindon’s four wins so far this term have come at Greenbridge Road and maintaining the ground’s reputation as a fortress will be key to the team’s chances of success in 2015-16.

Having swept all before them at home so far, Knott sees no reason why that cannot continue against Salisbury, although the visitors are unlikley to be a pusover.

“We’ve been really good at home so far this season and we are a tough side to beat when we play there,” said Knott.

“We get a lot of support when we play there and we don’t want to let them down. It’s always good to put in a performance in front of your own fans to keep them happy.

“Salisbury came back up last year and I’d expect them to be a tough side. There will be no pushovers in this league.

“I know a few of their players from county level. They have had some good results and will be a well-drilled side.

“They always want to come to Swindon and win.

“If we can play to our potential we are more than capable of beating anyone. We have to do that week in, week out and it’s not as easy as that.

“After a week off the first five or 10 minutes will be tough but hopefully once we have blown the cobwebs out we will be OK.”

SUPERMARINE will look try to climb back to the top of the Dorset & Wilts One North table when then travel to Corsham.

Sean Millwaters’ men are three points off league leaders Melksham.
