A DEPLETED Supermarine side gave Corsham too much of a head start as they fell to a 26-14 defeat away from home.

The loss is the second of their campaign as Sean Millwaters' side failed to come back from handing their hosts a 26-point advantage after 50 minutes.

Supermarine gave away two tries in the first half before holding out until the break, with a few opportunities for the visitors to score presenting themselves.

Corsham had a player sent to the bin at half-time but came out of the changing rooms firing, going over for two more tries to extend the advantage.

Supermarine got themselves back into the game with two push-over tries. The first came when Corey Reynolds went over the whitewash before Owain Hire followed him over.

“There were a lot of unavailabilites and we had to make 12 changes to the side,” said Millwaters, who had to put his boots on and play at number 10.

“We started slow and 50 minutes in, we were 26-0 down and then we suddenly realised that we were better than them and for the last half-an-hour, we absolutely dominated them.

“It is one that got away a little bit but you can’t afford to not start.”

With both league-leaders Melksham and second placed Combe Down winning at the weekend, Supermarine lost ground at the top but Millwaters says that does not concern him.

“Winning the league is not our goal this season because of all the young lads that were playing,” he added.

Meanwhile, Swindon College Old Boys picked up two bonus points in their 34-31 defeat at Drifters.
