SWINDON head coach Sean Lynn is hoping that fielding the same side that beat Reading away last weekend will help to bring some consistency to the team.

The 27-15 win on the road ended a string of four straight defeats for the Greenbridge Road side, a run that saw Swindon slip down the South West One East table.

Lynn put that bad run down to injuries and unavailability of a number of key players and will aim to name the same side this weekend for an important home game against Oxford Harlequins.

“We got the win out of the way which was nice and confidence is feeling high,” said Lynn.

“It was nice to go away to Reading and get the bonus point win but we do need to make sure that we get a win at home.

“We were unlucky against Witney, we got a losing bonus point, but home is essential for us to get wins.

“The run of four defeats can be put down to injury and unavailability.

“We come a bit unstuck regarding decision making and we weren’t clinical in the right areas.”

Swindon are still without Tom Mannion, who is a long-term absentee, along with Matt Broadbent, shoulder, and Paul Daniels with a broken cheekbone.

Add to that list Ben Saville, Connal Knott and Adam Dobie then you can understand the scale of the problem for Lynn.

Josh Haynes, Max Robinson and second row Jack Sharpley have all impressed in their absence and Swindon returned from Reading unscathed and, with the return of blindside flanker Troy Badenski, who has been out with knee ligament damage, then the Swindon boss is hopeful that the club are turning a corner.

“We’ve got that consistency of the same side we played last week so hopefully we can build some momentum,” added Lynn.

“Adam Dobie is unavailable as well, who is a huge impact into our back line, but Josh Haynes has really taken the number 13 shirt by storm.

“We’ve called upon some second team boys and they have put their hands up and done really well.

“That is the nice thing about club rugby. When some boys are unavailable the second team boys say they are going to take their chance when they get it.

“Max Robinson has certainly done that and it is great to have him on board and Jack Sharpley gave us a big boost last weekend.”

Oxford head into the game on the back of an 18-6 over Newbury Blues, but have only won once away from home this season.

“You have got to have something about you to put that score against Newbury,” said Lynn.

“The track record isn’t great for Oxford Harlequins away from home and that is something we are hoping doesn’t change this week.”

Meanwhile, both Swindon College Old Boys and Supermarine have the weekend off due to cup action in their leagues.
