ROYAL Wootton Bassett will have reprisal on their mind for a second time this season when they head to Sherborne.

Having only lost twice this season, there are few teams on Bassett’s radar when it comes to dishing out revenge.

Two weeks ago they were able to do just that when they saw off North Dorset 24-7 at home and now they face the second team to inflict a loss on them this term when they travel to Dorset.

Charlie I’Anson and Chris Roshier both missed last weekend’s win over Wimborne with ankle injuries, with the latter hoping to be available for selection tomorrow.

“We let ourselves down massively against Sherborne at home, there is no doubt about that,” said head coach Alan Low.

“We said when we set out against North Dorset that we had to prove where we were and we went out and showed what we were about.

“Our defence was strong all day and our work-rate on and off the ball was massive.

“We have got a similar job to do this weekend and we need to show Sherborne where we are.

“They met us on a particularly bad day at the office and we have got to go out and have got a point to prove away from home.

“Over the course of the two and a half years that I have been at the club now, the guys have gone from barely competing away from home to really going out and stamping their authority.

“That is what we have got to do. Stamp our authority early on and control the game. Sherborne are very strong at home and we will be prepared for that.”

Bassett head into the game looking to extend their winning run in Southern Counties South to double figures but Low knows his side will have to put in the hard work this week to claim victory against a side who have yet to taste defeat at Gainsborough Park, with their five defeats all coming on the road.

“There are still bits we can improve on massively,” he added.

“Getting our preparation right during the week is probably the biggest bit for us.

“I understand they are community level rugby players but the guys came up with their goals at the beginning of the year to say this is what we want to do as players, and as coaches we can only help them do that.

“You don’t just get it right on a Saturday afternoon out on the pitch, a lot comes down to the prep in the week.

“There are still things we want to improve on but on the field on a Saturday the boys are getting the results so we will keep them ticking over.”
