SUPERMARINE head coach Sean Millwaters is happy with how his season is panning out as they prepare to host Devizes 2nd.

The side currently sit sixth in the Dorset & Wilts One North table, inside a group of seven teams that have broken away from the remaining five teams.

Combe Down lead the group with a 15-point cushion between themselves and Minety in second place, but with just eight points separating Supermarine and second place there is still all to play for.

“Our aim all along was top six,” said Millwaters.

“Top six is a good season bearing in mind we have blooded all these young lads coming through. If we get top four then I think that is a great season.

“We are happy where we are. We are happy to be in the breakaway group. I think I said from the start of the season that we didn’t expect to win the league, but we are not ready to win the league.

“It was all about developing these young lads and give them a good season under their belts so that we could challenge the top three next year.”

Devizes have failed to win in their eight away games this season and Millwaters is hoping that home advantage will prove favourable.

“If you look at their results, they haven’t travelled well this year,” he added.

“We’re in the breakaway group for a reason and they aren’t for a reason.

“We have got to take our game to them. Our pitch is in pretty good condition and if the weather can hold then it should firm it up a little bit and we can play our rugby.

“We have got a nice big, flat, wide pitch and most teams aren’t used to that.

“We should have the advantage and should go into the weekend thinking we’re going to come away with a win.

“However, there are areas we need to work on this week bearing in mind we are going to have to make some changes.”
