SWINDON College are back on the march in the Dorset & Wilts Vase after clinching their place in next month’s final on Saturday.

Martin Lloyd’s side will face Weymouth & Portland on December 3 after powering through their semi final clash at Bradford on Avon 29-3.

College reached the national stages of the Senior Vase two seasons ago, beating Blandford to win the county title before adding the south west crown with victory over Abingdon.

And silverware is on the horizon for the Pipers Way side once again as they withstood early Bradford pressure to reach another showpiece occasion.

Bradford piled forward in the first half, but were left bemused by a decision to award them only a penalty, rather than penalty try as Chas Burwell was shoved aside as he chased a kick-through, then saw Owen Martin stripped of the ball as he went over the try line.

As it was College grabbed the lead when Steve Oxley touched down from a catch and drive move after quality attacking play had set up a lineout five metres out for the Swindon side.

The Old Boys then doubled their advantage before the interval when Bradford were caught trying to run from deep and Charlie Grabe went over for the second.

Jack Kimber added to the College tally after half-time and although Bradford did manage to get on the board through a penalty from centre Will Slark, the away side wrapped up their place in the final in the final quarter.

First Stuart Knight crossed the whitewash for his side’s third try, converted by Grabe, before Damon Murphy wrapped up a convincing triumph, Grabe again adding the extras.

Weymouth will be the opponents next month after they overcame East Dorset 19-11 in the other weekend semi final.
