BRADON Forest hosted the annual Swindon Schools Year Eight rugby tournament on Tuesday.
The event, organised by Bradon Forest’s head of PE Andrew Hartley, saw seven local schools compete for the Hartley Shield.
The hosts were the only school to submit an A and B team but both finished in mid-table as, Isambard School beat Commonweal in the final to win the tournament.
Kingsdown, Lydiard Park Academy, Nova Hreod, Ridgeway and Royal Wootton Bassett also took part in the event.
Hartley said: “The Swindon Schools tournament has seen local school rugby go from strength to strength.
“More and more schools enter each year, which include schools that in the past have not had a strong rugby representation.
“This is great for the sport and great for the students.’’ The Year Seven rugby competition was hosted by Lydiard Park Academy on Monday, where the hosts beat Commonweal in the final, with Bradon Forest coming third.
The Year Nine event takes place on Wednesday (November 23) at Ridgeway School.
