SWINDON head coach Sean Lynn says that his side cannot hide the fact that every game between now and the end of the season has added importance.

The Greenbridge Road team play host to fellow strugglers Oxford Harlequins tomorrow, looking for their first win in nine matches.

However, the Swindon chief was buoyed by his team’s performance last weekend as they came away from league leaders Old Patesians with a losing bonus point following a 15-10 defeat.

That point was enough to lift the Greenbridge Road outfit up to third from bottom in the table, one point and one place above Saturday’s visitors, with nine games of the season remaining.

“I think that we have come to the stage of the season where we have to build up every game,” Lynn said.

“We need as many points as we can get and that starts against Oxford Harlequins this weekend.”

The visitors to Greenbridge Road tomorrow saw their game against out-of-sorts Royal Wootton Bassett postponed due to a frozen pitch last weekend.

However, Quins will arrive at Swindon on the back of two morale boosting victories against Reading Abbey and bottom of the table Reading.

When Swindon locked horns with Quins at Marston Ferry Road in October, Lynn’s men claimed a 12-6 success.

“Oxford Harlequins are a good side,” Lynn said. “When we played them at their place, we sneaked the win. We are at home on Saturday and that is where we really need to start picking up points.

“Our next four games (against Quins, Reading, Reading Abbey and Bassett) are going to be crucial and we need to pick up points.”

However, Swindon will have to do without Mark Sharp after he sustained ankle ligament damage.

“It is a blow for us, we need some competition in the back row and we have lost Mark Sharp,” Lynn said.

“But we have got Michael Fitchett back at the club after he went travelling and that is a big boost for our front row.

“He played for the seconds last weekend (in their 59-12 loss at Dorset and Wilts One North leaders Corsham) and will probably play for them again tomorrow (against Bassett 2nd) before we look to bring him back.”
