DORSET & Wilts U20s roared to an emphatic 43-7 victory when they welcomed their Devon counterparts to Bournemouth.

The forwards, led by lock Sam Bailey, laid the foundation for the win and bar a 15-minute period midway through the second half when the visitors made a desperate effort to get back into the contest, Dorset & Wilts largely controlled the game.

It took 12 minutes for the Twin Counties to open their account when prop Harry Wilson touched down before centre Rhodri Hopkins added the conversion.

With the visitors now penned inside their own territory, it came as no surprise when Wilson crossed the line for a second time, with Hopkins again converting.

On the half-hour mark, flanker Sam Graham popped up on the left wing to crash over to boost Dorset & Wilts’ half-time lead to 19-0.

Devon strayed offside five minutes into the second half and Hopkins slotted the resulting penalty before winger James Hill was next to add his name to the scoresheet with a try, converted again by Hopkins, which sealed a bonus point.

However, as the hour approached, Devon won possession and full-back Damon Akerman outpaced the home defence to cross or the visitors’ only try, converted by Mitch Pinkus.

With Devon tiring in the closing stages, Dorset & Wilts added two further tries through second row James Fisher and fly-half James Bagguley, with Hopkins converting both to bring proceedings to a close.
