Supermarine Ladies end year in style

SUPERMARINE Ladies put in a superb performance to claim a 36-0 bonus-point victory away at Chipping Sodbury in their final game of 2011.

Despite heavy rain throughout, the visitors were able to put in some excellent phases of play which prevented the opposition from getting on the scoresheet.

Supermarine made a fast start with a host of attacking runs, before winger Corrine Hunter went over for a try in the opening minutes, which was converted by fly-half Natalie Williams.

As the rain eased off Supermarine pushed forward and dominated Chipping Sodbury’s half, allowing second row Jess Bunce to touch the ball down for a second try.

Captain Claire Legg, second row Natalie Lewis and fly half Natalie Williams all got in on the act with tries, before Supermarine were forced to put in a good shift in defence.

Number eight Claire Chard put in a superb display with a host of strong tackles, but Williams picked up the player of the match award for her two tries and three conversions.

The ladies now go into a break over the Christmas period but will play host Rosslyn Park in a friendly on January 8.
