Adam gutted to miss out on HQ appearance

SWINDON fly-half Adam Westall was left gutted after his Dorset & Wilts side missed out on making a third straight Twickenham appearance for the final of the County Shield.

The Twin Counties agonisingly lost their semi final 24-22 at the hands of Leicestershire, as the Midlands side were awarded a penalty try ten minutes into injury time.

The score left a simple conversion to win the game in front of the posts, and Westall was disappointed not to get the chance to play at the home of English rugby again.

“They played a very narrow and tight game, much like the Leicester Tigers did in the late 90s, and that didn’t allow us much time and space.

“We were allowed to play in patches, but that was it, and that made it hard for us to gain any momentum.

“It is obviously sad not to be involved at Twickenham again, but I feel more sorry for the lads in our team who have not played there before.”

Swindon’s Tim Berry, Conal Knott, Alan Low and Charlie Vine were also involved.
