ALUN Rossiter thinks the Swindon Robins will be gearing up for an assault on the Elite League play-offs come the end of this month after putting Coventry Bees to the sword last night.

Last night’s meeting at the Abbey Stadium was billed as a match-up between the two form teams in the country – but Rossiter’s men romped to a scorching 60-31 victory to leave their chances of a top-four finish in rude health with just one more fixture remaining.

Eastbourne remain the only side that can mathematically leapfrog the Robins into the play-off positions but when asked if he could envisage the Eagles pulling off a host of last-gasp victories, including back-to-back wins at Coventry, Rossiter said: “I can’t see it.

“I’m sure after being beat like that (last night), (the Bees) will be pretty stung by it.”

Swindon’s final meeting of the season sees them travel to basement boys Belle Vue tomorrow night (8pm) and despite his team’s confidence riding high, Rossiter expects the Robins to be fully focussing on picking up another three points.

He said: “The feet will be firmly back on the ground for Belle Vue, without a shadow of a doubt.

“You might say that they’re the whipping boys but they’re going to be wounded at the moment and it’s going to be tough.”
