ALUN Rossiter is confident of taking another step closer to securing a place in the Elite League play-offs when they face Belle Vue tonight.

The Swindon Robins travel to Belle Vue – who sit joint bottom of the Elite League – buoyed by recent results including a convincing 60-31 win over fellow play-off contenders Coventry Bees at the Abbey Stadium on Monday.

Belle Vue also go into the meet on the back of a win after they saw off fellow strugglers Leicester 55-38 at home.

The last time the two sides met was in July when the Robins took all four points with a 49-41 victory.

Troy Batchelor and reserve Steve Worrall topped the Robins’ scorecard with 11 points, and they will be hoping for a similar result this evening.

Rossiter will have a full side at his disposal as the Swindon look to continue their excellent run of form but he will not be complacent in his search for all four points.

“I’m expecting to go there and do well,” said Rossiter.

“On the back of our performance against Coventry we will go into the meet full of confidence but the feet are still firmly on the ground.

“Belle View will be going for the win so we can’t take anything for granted.”

The Robins, who lie third in the league behind King’s Lynn and Poole, will be looking for their fifth consecutive win to finish the season and that momentum could prove vital if they were to make the play-offs.

Rossiter though is focused on the task in hand and would not be drawn on the sides prospects of winning the league.

“It is too early to be talking about that,” he said.

“We have got to get the points to make sure we qualify before we get above our station.

“Confidence is sky-high at the moment which is very important at this stage of the season.

“We have in the past started off quickly and then tailed off a bit at the end so it is key to have momentum but we are not getting carried away.”

Eastbourne remain the only side that can mathematically leapfrog the Robins into the play-off positions but they would have to complete back-to-back wins at Coventry.
