NATHAN Greaves has had things far from his own way on his last two trips to Coventry but the Robins reserve is hoping that his crash in the first leg of last Monday’s Elite League play-off semi-final first leg against the Bees will have no bearing on his performance tonight’s decisive second leg.

Greaves is already facing up to the prospect of disciplinary action from the Speedway Control Bureau for his part in an altercation that took place whilst he was riding for National League Cradley Heath against the Coventry Storm at Brandon last week.

And after a collision with the Bees’ James Sarjeant, who was also involved in last week’s alleged brawl at Brandon, in heat two of Monday’s play-off, the youngster was left nursing an ankle injury.

But Greaves soldiered on to take to the track in two further heats, going close to claiming victory over Sarjeant in the ninth, and thinks that he’ll be fit to race at the Abbey Stadium as Swindon look to beat Coventry to the Grand Final.

“I think I’ve just done some ligaments in my ankle but I can’t complain really because it was my fault and it could have been worse,” said Greaves.

“I was in heat four, so I just had to ignore and that’s what I did – I didn’t think about it and I couldn’t feel it to be honest “I could feel it (when) my adrenaline was going down. I should be alright.

“I’ll get it strapped up and get some painkillers down me but the only worry is if I fall off and hurt again - that’s not going to look good but I can’t think about that at the minute. I made a good gate in the first (heat) and then messed up.”

Swindon trail by eight points following their 49-41 defeat at Brandon.

Greaves added: “The last time Coventry came to Swindon, we won quite easily.

“But you can’t look at that - Monday’s going to be a different day but it should be alright to get us through to the final.”
