ROBINS’ skipper Troy Batchelor could not secure the points required to see him automatically return to the BSI World Championship next year.

Batchelor agonishingly finished one place short of the eighth required to qualify for the Grand Prix’s 2015 edition.

The Aussie scored six points in the season-ending meet at Torun, in Poland on Saturday. It was not enough to overhaul rivals Andreas Jonsson and Jarkek Hampel, with Hampel ending seven points clear of the Robins man.

Batchelor’s only chance for a spot amongst the sport’s elite next season is now in the hands of the BSI and being given one of their four wildcard slots.

At the meet itself American speedway veteran Greg Hancock earned the sport’s top prize, creating the margin for victory half-way through the evening to pip Krzysztof Kasprzak by eight points.

Last year’s World Champion Tai Woffindon was beaten out of third place in a run-off with Nicki Pederson.
