SWINDON Robins rider Nathan Greaves has been stood down by the club after taking to Facebook to air his grievances over a rider review that Alun Rossiter had given.

With the season ending in a disappointing loss to the Coventry Bees in the Elite League Play-off semifinals, Rossiter was asked to assess how his riders had performed.

The Robins chief did not hold back in a frank assessment of the 16-year-old and it appears that Greaves took offence to what had been said about him.

Rather than speaking in private with Rossiter, who is known as Rosco to many, the young rider showed his naivety by taking to the Facebook group Swindon Speedway to express his views.

With the Bob Kilby memorial meeting taking place this Thursday, which features the Swindon team take on a select eight riders under the guidance of Bob’s son Lee Kilby at the Abbey Stadium, the club have taken the decision to drop Greaves.

It was not only Rossiter who was in the firing line either, as Greaves took a shot at Robins captain Troy Batchelor, who he described as ‘the worst captain ever’.

In the online comment Greaves was quick to recognise the support that Robins’ fans had shown him through what has been a difficult rookie year for the youngster.

In the outburst Greaves wrote: “I’m not one for doing this but I really can’t help it, Rosco’s review on the season is all rubbish, you all think he’s an amazing manager?

“There’s so many things fans unbeknown to the fans what is proof of him being amateur, and troy a good captain?

“He’s by far the worst captain out there, he didn’t help me once, neither did he even speak to me, one night I was stood outside the changing rooms and a little girl asked me to ask Troy how long he was going to be so he could have his picture took, I asked Troy, and he just totally ignored me.

“The only thing good about Swindon is the fans.

“They stuck by me throughout, and the comment he made about my dad, the race I was beating Nick Morris, Nick raced me into the corner passed me, all my dad did was go to Rosco and say nicely “why Rosco why did he do that what if Nath fell off then it wouldn’t be a five one, why couldn’t he protect him?”

“Rosco stood there and said nothing, really sorry but it’s annoying how everyone on here has a false impression of what really goes on, Coventry beat us, because there better riders helped the other riders and they were a “team” Swindon was every man for them selves.”

The post was promptly deleted from the site, but that has not prevented the Robins from taking action against the young rider.

Robins have made the change to the regular side with Brendan Johnson coming in for Greaves and Rossiter has said that he was disappointed by the comments made by Greaves.

“We are saddened by Nathan’s comments on social media where he openly criticised myself and others, we thank him for his efforts on behalf of Swindon Speedway and wish him well for the future,” he said.

Greaves was contacted by the Adver but he declined to comment on what had happened.
