SWINDON Robins manager Alun Rossiter heads into crunch talks this weekend with plans of making Speedway a better package for spectators.

After a successful meeting of club bosses, Rossiter will begin talks today with fellow speedway promoters at the annual AGM.

It was a tough year for Speedway which saw two clubs, Birmingham Brummies and Eastbourne Eagles both folding, the season running deep into October and complaints about the guest system.

Rossiter will head into the talks today wanting to focus on making speedway a sport that people want to pay to watch again.

“I just think we certainly need to improve the product,” he said.

“The people are voting with their feet at the moment and we need to get the product back and make it more fascinating for people.

“We need to stop this self, self, self and look at what is the best thing for the sport and for me that is the one thing we really have got to work together on.

“We have a big year coming up, we say it every year, but I think we have got to make sure we improve the product.

“I think crowds were down in general and we need to do something that is more positive.

“I think we are going to work on something where if we have a rain off we have got to get the meeting on quickly.

“I think we start far too early, I think we have got to look at late March, the thing is we can never tell with the weather but it is a big risk and I don’t think people want to come out and freeze.”
