SWINDON Robins manager Alun Rossiter hopes to have a clearer idea of what his team for next season may look like after this weekend.

Rossiter is in talks with other promoters at the annual AGM to discuss how the sport can move forward and how things are going to look next year.

The Robins boss has been reluctant to discuss his plans for his team next year until after this weekend but his hand may have been forced with Dakota North being snapped up by Poole, Nathan Greaves heading for the exit following a Facebook rant and Simon Gustafsson stating that he was taking a year out from the sport.

There are also concerns over last season’s number one rider Peter Kildemand, who has yet to commit himself to a season in England because of a busy schedule.

Rossiter has hinted though that he has been in talks with one rider who he thinks will get the crowds at the Abbey Stadium excited ahead of the new season.

“Until I know exactly what the plans are for the Elite League, it’s very difficult,” said Rossiter, who will be joined as co-promoter by Colin Pratt, it was revealed yesterday.

“I am not totally surprised (by Gustafsson’s decision). He has the ability but he needs to sort his own mindset out.

“Sometimes, when he went off of gate four, he went through gaps that I didn’t think were physically possible to go through.

“We’re still in talks with Peter at the moment and I will talk to him over the weekend once I know how many meetings there are and stuff like that but he is certainly not ruled out, that is for sure.

“He is only first reserve in the GPs and if there are fewer meetings, he could well be persuaded.

“But at the end of the day, it goes back to what I always say. “I want riders who want to ride - I don’t want riders that it is a last-minute option.

“I have spoken to one other rider who I have earmarked in the club, a new rider.

“I think the fans will be excited by it.”
