PETER Kildemand has confirmed that he will not be riding for the Swindon Robins, or any other UK team, in 2015.

Alun Rossiter had hoped that they would be able to persuade last season’s number one rider to return to the Abbey Stadium once the draft fixture list came out over Christmas.

However it seems like those plans have failed, with the Dane confirming what he told the Adver before Christmas, that he would be taking a break from riding in the UK.

“I hope to be back in Britain in the future but at this stage in my career it is not possible. I enjoyed my time at Swindon and hope to back there in the future,” he was quoted as telling website Speedway 365 today, blaming a hectic schedule.

“After sitting down over the winter with my team, we have decided to miss out racing in the UK.

“My calendar is full and by adding a UK season would only make it worse. Instead of racing 7-9 days in a row, it will give me some time to rest and train.

“I missed out on that last season and I feel that I needed it. At one time last year I did over 40 meetings in two months and that is too much.”

Kildemand sparked speculation about not returning to the UK in December when the Dane took to Twitter to say that he was happy to have his clubs sorted for 2015, with the Robins not being one of them.

He went one step short of completely ruling out a return to Swindon until he had seen the draft schedule for the Elite League but it appears he has made his decision.

“The key is to have max energy and you only get that during your fitness, your ideal weight is so important, ask Niels-Keistian Iversen. He concentrated on his fitness and look where he is now, a title contender,” he added.

“I think by reducing my calendar it will make me more determined and focused rather than being tired when I am racing.

“I think my tiredness showed towards the end of last season. I don’t want to get to that stage again, I want to be fresh and able to give it my all every race.”

“I have set targets for this year. I want to qualify for the Grand Prix Series and get a medal in Speedway European Championship.

“Winning the World Cup in Vojens for my country would also be a highlight.”
