SWINDON Robins have today announced that Pole Grzegorz Zengota as the sixth piece of their team for the 2015 season.

Zengota, who is a Robins asset, returns to the Abbey Stadium after signing in 2010 when his results in the second half of the season were far in excess of his final average of 5.65, including some consistently high scores around Blunsdon.

Zengi, as he is affectionately known, joined Coventry Bees in 2013 but missed the British season last year and will come into the team with an average of 6.14.

After the disappointment of Peter Kildemand confirming last week that he would not be returning to Swindon for the next campaign, team manager Alun Rossiter has moved quickly to get the next member of his team in place.

“He is a rider we had a couple of years back but I think he has matured into an even better rider,” said Rossiter.

“I spoke to our Polish friends at Leszno, where Leigh Adams used to ride and where Zengi rode, and they reckon halfway through last season, he was outstanding.

“I genuinely believe that he is going to bring a lot more to the table and the nice thing about him is that he wanted the ride and he is committed to racing over here.

“He csme in and he did pretty good but as he has got older he has definitely got better.

“The added bonus is that he is our asset, which is good because we are using our own riders.

“I’m pretty pleased with it. We looked at our options and he was always one that was in the frame, and we quickly came to a deal.

“At the end of the day, I always tend to have that gut feeling and I like to go with my gut feeling.

“Something kept telling me that he is going to do a good job.

“He will fit in really well. He is a popular lad and everyone seems to get on well with him.

“He is a very fast rider and once he gets back into the Swindon track, I think you’ll find that a lot of people will find him hard to beat around there.”

Skipper Troy Batchelor, fellow Aussie Nick Morris and Kyle Howarth are already in the main body of the team, with Charles Wright and Lewis Rose at reserve.

The Robins have been left with 8.7 points to fill their final spot in the septet and Rossiter is keen to get in the final part of his team as soon as possible and is currently assessing his options.

“I would have been even happier if I had got Peter (Kildemand) back to add to Zengi but at the end of the day, that is how it is,” he added. “Whoever we bring in, I am sure will do a job.

“We are just looking at what we have got and where we go from there.”
