CHARLES Wright has admitted that Swindon Robins would have been his first choice if the decision had been left to him.

The 25-year-old’s destiny was taken out of his own hands when he was picked by team manager Alun Rossiter during the Elite Riders Draft.

However it worked out perfectly for Wright who is a fan of the track at the Abbey Stadium and knows many of his new teammates already.

“I’m feeling good. I’ve put a lot of money into my equipment this year and looking forward to it,” he said.

“Swindon seem like they’ve got a young team and I know quite a few of the riders and I’m friends with a few of them off the track, so there should be a good team spirit this year.

“I knew Nick (Morris) from Somerset and Buxton, when he first started, so I’ve known him for a while.

“It suits me. Out of everywhere, I would have preferred to come to Swindon.

“I get on with Rosco really well. I like the track and it couldn’t have worked out better for me.”

Wright is fully committed to this campaign after leaving his full-time job to focus on the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old had been riding for the Somerset Rebels in the Premier League for the last couple of years and 2015 will mark his first full season in the top level having previously impressed on several guest appearances.

“I only did the guest thing last year in the fast track but I’ve gone to full-time and given up my job because I feel like I can progress in the sport,” he added.

“I was building before.

“While I’m young, I want to give it a go and I feel like I can improve, so that’s the way I’ve gone.”
