SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter is hoping to see a few new faces down at the Abbey as his team kick off their campaign later than expected.

A drab Good Friday meant that what was set to be a great day of racing with a double header against last year’s champions Poole Pirates was called off.

However the Blundson meeting has been re-arranged quickly and with the early start time of 4.30pm Rossiter is hoping it will attract a bumper bank holiday crowd.

“We have got to get the win under our belts, that is the most important thing,” said Rossiter.

“A couple of our boys are still a bit race rusty around the track so it is a case of getting them to learn their lines, but once they get going they will be pretty quick.

“The forecast is looking a lot better for this week so hopefully we will have the season up and running.

“We got it on nice and early so if people have got to travel they can be home at a reasonable time, so that was the reasoning behind it.

“It is Easter Monday afternoon so it is something to do and hopefully we can get a few through the gates and it will be nice to get a few new people through the doors."

With the re-arrangement of the meeting both sides will be able to field full strength sides this afternoon with Charles Wright returning for Swindon and Josh Grajconek coming back into the team for Poole Pirates.

Something that may play into the hands of the Robins according to Rossiter.

“Everyone will be back to full strength,” he added.

“Poole will have Grajconek at two in place or Rory Schlein and we’ll have Charles Wright back.

“It is brilliant for us because that is why we picked Charles.

"He is a good match for Carl Newman in my opinion and it is better now both teams are at full strength.

“If anything, the way that Rory Schlein is going at the moment, that made them a little bit stronger by having him in the side.”
