THIS year was my last year in the British Under-21 Final, so to finally get the win was awesome.

I’ve had a really good time in the Under-21s in the past but not quite managed to win it, so I couldn’t be more pleased to get it done and seal the win this time.

It was a tough night and both myself and Robert Lambert rode well all night. When you’ve done well through the heats there’s quite a lot of pressure on you because people expect you to win.

There was a bit of drama in the last heat as someone rode into me and bent my bike, so I had to get on the spare.

That meant it was a bit of a crazy end to the meeting but thankfully I was able to get the job done in the end.

That win means I’ll be in the Great Britain team at the Under-21 World Championships later in the year.

It’s always a real honour whenever you get the chance to represent your country in any sport and speedway is no different.

I am proud to be British so I always want to do well for myself and my country whenever I am out on the track with those colours on my back.

I’ve always loved representing my country at home and abroad. I’ve had the chance to do it a few times already and I’m looking forward to doing it again.

When you’re away with your national team it always creates a bit of an extra buzz. Personally, wearing that jacket gives me a bit more passion and it makes me want to win even more.

I’m still only 21 and have been lucky to be involved in the Under-21s set-up for a while but I think people think I am older than I actually am.

I got into the Elite League at quite a young age so it probably seems like I have been around for quite a while.

It’s definitely the long-term goal to ride for the senior Great Britain team in the future.

I feel like I did well for the Under-21s last year and if I can do well again this year that will stand me in really good stead for the future.

Working with Rosco definitely helps. He’s so passionate about his job and that really rubs off on you when you work with him so closely.

And you obviously want to do well whenever you are in front of the Great Britain manager because that can help give you a bit of leg up into the squad one day.

But I don’t really think about stuff like that at the moment because when you do it starts to play with your head.

You’ve just got to make the most of it and enjoy it every time you get on the track and try to put some good results on the table first and foremost.

You’ve just got to keep your head down, keep focussed and keep working hard and hopefully something will come at the end of it.
