SWINDON Robins made it three straight victories in the Elite League with a classy victory at home to Belle Vue Aces last night.

Peter Kildemand made an emphatic return to the Abbey Stadium, with the Dane bagging 12 points at number one on his first outing for Swindon of the season.

Polish ace Grzegorz Zengota backed up well for Alun Rossiter’s men with a 10-point haul, while Australian Nick Morris and reserve Charles Wright claimed eight apiece.

The night turned on two falls for the Aces in heats 10 and 11 as the hosts claimed back-to-back maximum wins to turn a two-point advantage into a 10-point one.

Kildemand enjoyed the perfect start to his comeback, leading home Kyle Howarth in a maximum win in the opening heat of the night. The Dane went all the way round into turn one to pass his team-mate and held the front to the finish.

Steve Worrall then bagged an easy win for the Aces but a great pass by Charles Wright split the Belle Vue riders to claim second and limit the damage.

Nick Morris then showed his class with an emphatic victory in the next, but it was a poor first ride for home skipper Batchelor as he came home pointless.

Belle Vue continued to chip away at the lead and a win for guest Rory Schlein in race four levelled the scores at 12-12 despite a second-placed finish for the Robins’ Grzegorz Zengota.

The visitors then took the lead for the first time as Max Fricke led home a one-two ahead of Worrall.

Swindon’s response was swift and emphatic as they hit back with a maximum off their own. Robins duo Zengota and Morris were neck and neck off the line but the Pole showed just how much speed he had at his disposal with a dominant win.

Not to be outdone, the Robins’ top two riders, Kildemand and Batchelor, followed it up with a second straight one-two. The Swindon duo attacked Belle Vue guest Josh Grajczonek with a pincer movement on the opening lap and stormed away to the line.

The next heat looked destined to be shared as Max Fricke raced clear for Belle Vue but Zengota was struck down with a problem on the final bend, meaning the Aces took it 4-2.

The luck quickly turned, though, as Batchelor benefited from a last-lap fall from Fricke in the next race to help the Robins take a priceless maximum, following behind a classy victory for fellow Australian Morris as the hosts led 33-27 after 10 heats.

Kildemand then made it three from three as he led home another maximum ahead of Howarth, who benefitted from a fall for Grajczonek which led to the race being awarded.

Aces refused to give up, though, and wins for Stefan Nielsen and Scott Nicholls in the next two heats chipped away at the Robins’ advantage.

However, Zengota produced a sterling ride in the penultimate heat of the night, claiming a tapes to flags win to wrap up the Robins overall victory on the night.

Although Nicholls took the win for Belle Vue in the last, Zengota and Kildemand followed him home to split the heat complete a comfortable - and very impressive - night's work for the Robins.
