SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter is sweating over the form and fitness of skipper Troy Batchelor following their 48-42 victory at home to Belle Vue Aces this evening.

The Robins’ success was their third in a row in the Elite League, all of which have come at the Abbey Stadium.

Australian ace Batchelor was in just his second meeting since returning from a lengthy shoulder problem and collected just four points from four races.

Rossiter admits Batchelor’s current physical state is a concern as they prepare to go in search of a fourth successive victory tomorrow night when they travel to Coventry Bees.

Rossiter said: “It’s going to be a big test but we’ve got riders who can ride the track.

“Troy is the one who is struggling with his shoulder. He still can’t hold on properly.

“It’s a worry but I will have a talk with him and see what he thinks and see if he is fit enough to go tomorrow, we’ll have to see.

“We don’t really know how long it will affect him. He just needs a bit more time, that’s all.”

Peter Kildemand stole the show for the Robins on his return to the Abbey, with the Danish number one top scoring with 12 points on his first outing for Swindon of the season.

The outcome of the night was decided on two falls for the Aces in heats 10 and 11 as the hosts claimed back-to-back maximum wins to turn a two-point advantage into a 10-point one.

Having predicted that it would be the toughest fixture for his side so far this term, Rossiter was delighted with how the evening turned out.

“That was as tight as I was expecting but I am happy to take the three points,” added Rossiter.

“I was really pleased with it. At the beginning I said come away with three points and I’ll be more than happy.

“We were in control then (after heats 10 and 11). It was nice to stop them getting the black and white. I was confident with the riders we had left that we would pick up the points.

“You have got to win your home matches, that’s the most important thing. It keeps the home fans happy and that pays the bills. Hopefully we can kick on from now.”
