ALUN Rossiter says it is too early for Adrian Miedzinski to return for the Swindon Robins ahead of tonight’s meeting with Leicester Lions.

The Robins’ Polish number one has been out of action since suffering a serious hand injury on the opening Elite League fixture of the season on Good Friday but made his racing comeback at the weekend in his homeland.

Rossiter was pleased to see Miedzinksi back in action but added it still may be some time before he is seen in Swindon colours again.

Dane Peter Kildemand has covered for Miedzinski’s place at the head of the Robins team in recent weeks, and the same line-up will be the one that hosts Leicester at the Abbey Stadium this evening.

“Adrian is getting better,” said Rossiter, who added that skipper Troy Batchelor continues to look stronger following an injury of his own.

“I haven’t heard from him but I’ve heard he had his first meeting.

“He is one of those people who won’t come back until he is 100 per cent fit, certainly not to England anyway. It’s too early to put a timescale on that at the moment.

“We will otherwise be at full strength.

“Batch is starting to come back now and show a bit of form. He was a bit unlucky to miss out in Finland in the Grand Prix but certainly had a good meeting at Belle Vue for us last week and is getting stronger and stronger.”

That Belle Vue meeting saw the Robins’ three-fixture winning run come to an end as they were trumped 46-44 by the Aces in Manchester.

Swindon have had 10 days off since that clash and Rossiter is itching to get his troops together again.

“We were a bit unlucky but we are looking forward to getting everyone back on track,” said Rossiter.

“It was a good performance away from home. We really should have won it but we’ve moved on now and you just have to take the positives out of it.

“They are a good side but we showed we are starting to come good as well now.

“We’ve had a bit of time off and I am sure the boys will be dialled in and raring to go.”

Swindon have won their last four meetings at the Abbey and will be favourites to extend that sequence against a Leicester side who have won just twice in the Elite League.

However, Rossiter insists he is taking nothing for granted against a side who sit bottom of the table.

“They are a dangerous outfit. They have got riders who can come in and ride the track and do good,” said Rossiter.

“They have got the likes of Rory Schlein; we all know how well he goes around Swindon, so we will certainly have to be on our guard and won’t take anything for granted.

“Jason Doyle is doing well as well. He’s had a couple of good seasons now, so we will just have to make sure we can stop him.

“Even though they are in a lowly position, you still give everyone the same amount of respect.”
