ADRIAN Miedzinski’s Swindon Robins comeback has been pushed back until after the World Cup, team manager Alun Rossiter has revealed.

Swindon have been without the services of Polish number one Miedzinski since he suffered a serious hand injury in their first Elite League meeting of the season on Easter Monday.

Miedzinski has made a quicker-than-expected recovery and returned to racing for Torun in his homeland earlier this month.

In the wake of Swindon’s 50-40 success at home to Leicester Lions last Thursday, Rossiter hinted that Miedzinksi could be back at Blunsdon for tonight’s meeting with league leaders Coventry Bees.

However, it has now been confirmed that Miedzinski will be missing in action at the Abbey Stadium again this evening and Rossiter admits the Pole is unlikely to be back in Robins colours until next month.

The Elite League programme will take a two-week break for the World Cup in early June and Rossiter has targeted Swindon’s comeback fixture at home to Belle Vue Aces on June 18 as the date for Miedzinski’s return.

Rossiter said: “I think we are probably looking at after the World Cup now.

“He is still not 100 per cent fit. He has only just made his second meeting coming back from a massive injury.

“He needs to be coming over here full of confidence and ready to hit the ground running.

“There’s no point him coming back half-fit and just coming back through because that puts too much pressure on him.

“He’s still having regular physiotherapy. It was a big accident and people have to realise that.

“Possibly, he’s back a bit sooner than we thought but we always stated the World Cup was in our minds and hopefully he’ll be back after that.

“Around about June 18 is what I am hoping.”

Danish ace Peter Kildemand has occupied the Robins’ number one spot in Miedzinski’s absence but he is also unavailable for the Coventry clash.

Young Australian Nick Morris will step up from number three to lead the team, with Dakota North booked as a guest in his place.
