TEAM GB boss Alun Rossiter has named his Swindon Robins' rider Kyle Howarth as a reserve for the Speedway World Cup event at King's Lynn next month.

Meanwhile Australia have handed a chance to in-form Robins ace Nick Morris, who leads the Swindon charge from the number one slot in tonight's televised clash with Coventry Bees (7.30pm).

Morris joins club skipper Troy Batchelor, plus Chris Holder and Jason Doyle in the Australian line-up.

Howarth, named in an initial 10-man squad for Britain, misses out on the team but will be on standby for the June 8 event, where GB will take on Australia, the United States and Latvia for a place in the final.

Rossiter has included Tai Woffinden, who won the Czech Grand Prix last weekend, Chris Harris, Robert Lambert and Danny King, with Howarth as back-up.

"Winning our opening event has to be the main aim once again because these race-offs seem to get harder and harder each and every year and if all our boys perform at King's Lynn then there's no reason why we can't do that again this year," said Rossiter.

"Tai's done very well so far this year and he'll captain the side. "He's riding great in all of his domestic leagues, he's top of the Grand Prix standings, he had an excellent win in Prague last time out and he's certainly on fire right now.

"Bomber (Chris Harris) has been doing well in the GP qualifiers and is our sole survivor now. Chris always gives it everything he's got, he's having a good season all-round and he seems a lot more settled this year.

"Danny is riding good enough of late to deserve his inclusion. He's been there, done it, got the t-shirt at this level and his experience could be very important. We're looking for him to make that next little step up this year though and I'd be very happy for Danny if he managed to do that.

"Robert Lambert is included on merit; he's another rider who's having a very good season, he showed everybody he is competitive at the Best Pairs competition a few weeks ago and he certainly shows no fear that's for sure.

"I'm really looking forward to the World Cup again this year and hopefully it can be a positive one for Team GB."
